Upgrading an Operating System
You may wish to carry out an upgrade to an operating system when you have an older operating system such as Windows 98 or Windows 2000.
Updates can be straight-forward to carry out, however, certain things should be checked before an upgrade takes place.
It may be a good idea to download and install Microsoft's Windows XP Upgrade Advisor. This software is free and can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site. Once installed and executed the program will give detailed information about hardware incompatibilities and software that won't run under XP. Other important information with regards to drivers will also be given. The program will automatically change your system with Microsoft's Hardware Compatibly List (HAL).
