Extranets

The difference between an intranet and an extranet is that access can be gained remotely from outside of the company or organisation. Extranets may even have people from outside the business accessing documents, for example customers accessing information about products on sale.

Although extranets allow other people access to your network, it should be under secure conditions, with user name and password authentication and limited access rights.
