Relationships Between Entities

Frequently, a meaningful relationship exists between two different types of entity.

For example:

  • Employees work in a department
  • Lawyers advise clients
  • Equipment is allocated to projects
  • A truck is a type of vehicle

There are potentially three types of relationship which can exist between two different entities:

  1. One-to-One Relationships
  1. One-to-Many Relationships
  1. Many-to-Many Relationships.
