D75X 34: Information Technology: Applications Software 1
This Unit is designed to enable students to use Information Technology (IT) systems and applications independently to support a range of information processing activities. The Unit is designed to develop a broad knowledge of the theoretical concepts, principles, boundaries and scope of IT applications. These activities will be centered on using software applications packages to meet complex information requirements while paying attention to security and the needs of other users.
On completion of the Unit you should be able to:
1. Operate a range of IT equipment independently.2. Use a range of software applications packages.

Recommended prior knowledge and skills
Access to this Unit will be at the discretion of the Centre, however it is recommended that candidates should have sound keyboard and mouse skills and a thorough familiarity with computers and software packages.
Core skills: This Unit gives automatic certification of the core skill: Using Information Technology at Higher level.
