Latest Developments
In October 2005, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and Avid signed a three year non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on enriching the Digital Media Curriculum for Scotland by introduction of new learning resources, course materials and support activities. This partnership is part of SQA’s Digital media and ICT Vendor Alliance (DIVA) Programme.
The Memorandum of Understanding was formally launched in Glasgow on 26 October 2005 by Peter Ramsay, General Manager UK & EMEA, and Hans Venmans, European Product Marketing Manager, for Avid Technology Europe Ltd, with Anton Colella, Chief Executive, and John Young, Director of Qualifications, for SQA.
The agreement covers:
- Investigation of new awards incorporating Avid units.
- Production of training courses for the college sector for use in HN awards.
- Facilitation of ‘train-the-trainer’ and technician training.
- Joint awareness raising activities.
- Participation in Avid education partnership groupings.

New DIVA Case Study
Students at Adam Smith College in Fife have been reaping the benefits of working with world leader in media production tools Avid.
HN TV Operation & Production
The new HN Framework developed under consortium with the CAVIC Group has been adopted by the DIVA programme as the vehicle for developing educational links with AVID. The mapping of the HN curriculum has been undertaken.
Work placement opportunities
AVID support work placement for students and are happy to include this in the programme. Work placements for lecturing staff are also under consideration.

Student Participation in DIVA
The DIVA team has identified the student participation required and is arranging activities across a spread of locations to ensure national participation. A masterclass programme is included in the April workshops, including career path advice.

A Mentor Website has been made available to staff and students on the DIVA programme including Tips & Tricks, Lesson Plans, Users info , Forum, etc.
