The SVQ qualifications in Financial Services are based on the National Occupational Standards set and published by the Financial Services Partnership (FSP). FSP revised the standards in 2009 after consultation with employers, chartered bodies and training providers.
The standards set out a statement of competence which brings together the skills, knowledge and understanding, and behaviours required to undertake specific work activities in financial services. The standards provide an accurate and detailed definition of what candidates must know, understand and be able to do in order to be judged competent.
SQA awards the SVQ Providing Financial Services level 2 and SVQ Providing Financial Services level 3. The qualifications cover a number of specialist and general areas including:
