  • There are four SVQs in Driving Goods Vehicles at Level 2 and these are designed for the specific vehicle driven:

    • Driving Goods Vehicles: Motor Cycle of Pedal Cycle (GA06 22)

The optional Units include a range of skills such as customer care; dealing with payments; planning routes; and activities specific to Food Safety. These SVQs can be taken on either a public or private road depending on the working environment.

From 1 February 2012 the re-accredited Driving Goods Vehicle SVQ at level 3 will be operational. The Group Award code is  GE6A 23.'

The SVQ 3 in Driving Goods Vehicles at SCQF level 6 is designed for the specific vehicle that you drive, ie articulated or draw bar vehicles; rigid vehicles; and vans.

For the vehicle you drive, you are required to complete 8 Units. Four of these are mandatory and you select four other Units from the range of optional Units available.

The mandatory Units involve some driving skills and other key skills such as planning routes and timings for both the collection and delivery of loads; the application of technology and maintaining health and safety. There are two groups of optional Units. One group (where you can select up to a maximum of two Units) covers customer service; food safety during delivery; payment transactions; handling goods; and effectively contributing your employer’s business. The other group (where you can take up to all four of your optional Units) covers optimising the use of logistics resources; responding to problems; managing your own and your professional development; helping team members; and minimising the environmental impact of logistics operations.

The previous SVQ at Level 3 Driving Goods Vehicles (G6V9 23) has entered its lapsing period on 31.1.12. Any existing candidates enrolled on this SVQ will have a further 4 years to complete this qualification, which is the standard roll-out period.
