New Chief Executive

Dr Janet Brown has been appointed Chief Executive of SQA and took up the post on 5 March 2007.

Dr Brown joined SQA from Scottish Enterprise, where she was Managing Director of Industries. Before her five years at Scottish Enterprise, Dr Brown worked in the electronics sector, spending considerable time in the USA.

The last role she held before coming to live permanently in Scotland was as Director of Operations Networking Systems Memories for Motorola in Austin, Texas.

Born in Sheffield, Dr Brown holds a BSc in Physics and a PhD in Metallurgy & Materials Science, both awarded by the University of Birmingham. She lives in Paisley with her husband and two daughters.
