A-Z Index | About SQA | Contact | Feedback | Policies
Our online databases contain Arrangements Documents and specimen question papers for all National Courses (eg Intermediate 2 and Highers); Unit Specifications for National Units and Higher National Units; and Information Sheets for all SVQs.
Searching by qualification code (all qualifications)
Every SQA qualification has a unique code number which allows you to find the information you want quickly and easily - although remember that the databases are indexed using the new APS codes (this is in the style of a 4-digit product code followed by a 2-digit level code - eg Higher Chemistry is C012 12).
HN Unit Hints
If you do not know the new APS code you can search using the old legacy code by typing this in the TEXT field in the main search box. Or you can type in all or part of the unit title you want information on. Finally, you can find all units within a Superclass by selecting from the drop-down lists. Remember that only nationally-devised units are available on-line - to obtain copies of locally-devised unit specifications contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0845 279 1000 or by e-mail at customer@sqa.org.uk
National Qualifications Hints
The NQ search function is split into three easy to use sections:
Search by Code: simply select either the national unit or course/course button, enter the unique qualification code then select search.
National Unit search by Title: enter the title or part-title of the unit you are looking for, and further qualify your search by level if you wish. This function also allows you to search by Superclass and Moderation Group.
Course by Title: simply enter the title or part-title of the course you want information on (eg English for English and Communication), further qualifying your search by level if you wish using the drop down menu.
SVQ Hints
You can search by title of the full SVQ Title or by Unit Title in the fields indicated. Select a level to refine your search further or search for matches at all levels. Other fields allow you to search for SVQ units using the unit number if known (again remember that this must be the new APS code). Finally, the Text field allows you a free-hand to search for SVQs by, for example, awarding body eg City & Guilds. You only need to enter as much information as you want or have. You can always refine your original search if you do not immediately find what you are looking for.
General Tips
Using a part-title in all databases may provide a better chance of finding the details you are searching for, particularly if you are not exactly sure what the title is.
