Summary of processes and procedures for centres

  • Inform SQA of revision or development using the SQA Form 1
  • Qualifications Manager will check that there is no duplication with any existing or planned PDA and will inform the centre of authorisation to proceed
  • Centres with non-devolved authority will work with the Qualifications Manager to develop and validate the PDA
  • Centres with devolved authority, using Units already in the SQA catalogue, can proceed with validation of the PDA.  All Units used in new/revised PDAs must be SCQF credit rated and levelled
  • Centres with devolved authority wishing to develop or revise Units can request authorisation to write Units and subsequent validation of Units via SQA, using SQA Form 2 and SQA Form 4 respectively. SQA has produced Guidance on writing Higher National Units to aid this process. Thereafter centres should follow the validation processes for centres with devolved authority
