E-assessment: Guide to Effective Practice
The four organisations which regulate qualifications in the UK - the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), DELLS (Wales), CCEA (Northern Ireland) and SQA - have collaborated to develop a publication, E-assessment: Guide to Effective Practice.
The guide has been produced predominately for colleges and training providers but it may also be of use to schools and Higher Education establishments and for awarding bodies.
It covers two key aspects of e-assessment: the management and delivery of e-testing and the use of e-portfolios for assessment.

Piloting and case studies
The E-assessment: Guide to Effective Practice has been piloted in selected centres, and resulting Case Studies and examples from these organisations have been included in the e-Assessment Toolkit. These experiences may be of interest and assistance if you are looking at e-testing and/or e-portfolios, whether with a view to introducing them within your own centre or improving existing practice and staff skills.
In addition to the Guide Case Studies, there are also several which reflect e-assessment practice taking place across the UK. One of these is a case study from Dumfries and Galloway College on using an e-portfolio approach for SQA qualifications.
SQA, QCA, DELLS and CCEA also collaborated to produce Regulatory Principles for e-Assessment, intended to encourage innovative practice and also to enhance the quality assurance of e-assessment.

During 2009/10 the qualifications regulators for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland carried out a survey of Awarding Bodies responses to the Regulatory Principles for e-assessment.
