Chair's address

balloons imageIn her capacity as Chair of the HN Key Partners’ Group, Linda McTavish welcomed the delegates to the conference and noted the wide representation of groups and organisations at the event.

She said the success of HN modernisation had received recognition not only in Scotland but also internationally. The challenge was to continue on this path, and the conference workshops would provide delegates with the opportunity to discuss how HNC/Ds could be enhanced further.

Linda reminded delegates that partnership was at the core of the success of HN modernisation and the grass roots nature of that partnership was ‘stunning’.  Colleges across Scotland had come together with a common purpose and this had resulted in a clear picture of who was developing what.  This had clear benefits for the sector but it had also demonstrated to the Scottish Government that the sector was managing the project and providing a model for efficient government.

On behalf of HNKPG, Linda thanked all the individuals, colleges and organisations who had contributed to making HN modernisation such as success story.  The challenge, she said, would be to continue this good work, especially in light of the cap being lifted on HNC/D numbers, which would provide even greater opportunities to promote and deliver these important qualifications.
