Retail Academy

The Retail Academy project is designed to deliver a national training support service via the Retail Academy infrastructure. It focuses on supporting the long term sustainability of SME retail businesses in the UK. The web-based support was launched in September 2003.

Packages of relevant training courses have been developed and there are seven (10 hour) guided learning certificates in the following areas:

  • Visual Merchandising
  • Customer Service in Retail
  • Monitoring Retail Operations
  • Legislation for the Retail Environment
  • Security in Retail
  • Product Range Planning
  • Marketing in Retail

The objectives of the Retail Academy are:

  • To act as a flagship and brand for the provision of training for retailers, and to promote learning particularly with smaller retailers.
  • To understand and support the equal opportunity requirements of various groups in retailing.
  • To establish itself as a credible and reputable organisation for the bidding of provision of learning services and compliment other national programmes in existence.
  • To assist in the collective development of learning materials and associated services for retailers. These will fully reflect all qualifications, short courses, bite sized learning or any learning that will benefit the retailer.

Further information and online learning tools can be found at the Retail Academy's website: www.retailacademy.org
