PDA Securities and Investment

The PDA in Securities and Investment was developed to meet the needs of organisations operating in the area of Investment Operations.

The award aims to support businesses by ensuring staff are qualified to the standard required by the regulatory framework governing the sector. This is the first SQA award to be recognised as being part of the regulatory framework.

The qualification is suitable for those already employed within the sector, candidates seeking to pursue a career within securities and investment operations, or for anyone seeking a career change to the sector.

The Course has been designed in consultation with the Securities and Investment Institute (SII) to ensure relevance and applicability. The award gives exemption from the Institute’s regulatory paper, Introduction to Securities and Investment, which is part of their Investment Administration Qualification.

The Course consists of two mandatory Units:

Financial Services Market: The Personal Investor (DX2N 34)
Provides an introduction to the structure of the UK Financial Services market and an understanding of the personal investment schemes available to investors.

Financial Regulations and Market Trading Mechanisms (DXLP 34)
Provides an introduction to the role of regulation in the UK Financial Services market and to financial products traded by individual and corporate investors.
