Customised Awards

Our Customised Awards service is used by many employers and training organisations. Our service provides a variety of different kinds of help which range from an advisory service to full-scale award development, offering tailor-made training and qualifications packages for individual organisations. The awards can be developed in any occupational area and at any level.

To be competent in employment, employees must have the experience, skills, knowledge and attitude they need, and the ability to apply them appropriately in their job.

Customised Awards are normally work-based vocational qualifications and are benchmarks of competence which measure the skills of employees as they carry out their normal work activities.

What can our Customised Awards service do for you?

  • We can take your organisation?s existing training programme, map it against the relevant national occupational standards* and SQA standards and where appropriate provide a nationally recognised qualification, which may also qualify for endorsement by a professional body.  We can also allocate Customised Awards to a level on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF)

and/or:

  • We can discuss with you the knowledge, understanding and skills you need in your workforce and help you to develop a new Customised Award for your staff which we will quality assure and certificate

What benefits will this bring to your organisation?

  • Agreeing standards of competence for your workforce will help you to identify critical skills areas, training needs, and the resources required for training and development
  • Competence standards can be used for setting objective targets for training programmes and provide a measure with which to evaluate both internal and external training outcomes
  • Competence standards can act as a benchmark for recruitment, job descriptions, and appraisal systems.

They can also act as a vehicle for change and help you to:

  • standardise working control, increase productivity and effectiveness in the use of staff resources, and introduce new working practices such as multi-skilling and team-based working.
