Case Study: Examination and Quality Assurance Administration 2

Background

Regulation 12 of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (CDG 2009) requires companies involved in the transport, loading and unloading of dangerous goods by road, rail and inland waterways to appoint a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) who must be in possession of a Vocational Training Certificate (VTC). For a DGSA to gain their VTC they must pass their examinations.

The Department for Transport (DfT) Dangerous Goods Branch is responsible for the implementation in the UK and the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is responsible for the management of this scheme within the UK.

What SQA provided

SQA was selected by the Secretary of State for Transport to provide a tailored examinations service for this scheme. The selection was based on our ability to provide an administration service, our commitment to quality assurance, and our excellent customer service.
