The National Progression Award (NPA) offers employees in customer service and support functions in Financial Services the opportunity to achieve a relevant vocational qualification. It is also suited to those looking to embark on a career in the sector.
The Financial Service NPA was developed in consultation with banks, financial services organisations, professional bodies and further education colleges in response to feedback received from one of the UK's leading banks.
The qualification is mapped to National Occupational Standards for the sector and recognises relevant and up-to-date knowledge and skills covering regulatory frameworks and legislation, customer service, ICT, personal development, communication and working with others. It has also been mapped to the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland Certificate and Diploma in Financial Services, providing one credit towards these awards.
The award is made up of Units at SCQF level 6, each carrying a credit value. Candidates must pass a total of seven credits to achieve the award - four mandatory and three from five optional units.
The NPA qualification can be delivered full or part time, either through college or in the workplace. Learning support materials are available for all units.
Access will be at the discretion of the college or training provider. In general entry is open to any candidates demonstrating, by formal qualification or experience, a reasonable expectation of successfully completing the course.
Assessment Support Packs are available to download from the SQA Secure website - your centre's SQA Co-ordinator will have access to SQA's secure website. Please approach them for copies.
