I failed to meet the conditions of the offer made to me by my preferred university; will I get in through clearing?

Universities & Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) are happy to speak to any applicants in this situation; their advice would be as follows: The below text is useful information for Advisors. Contact details for UCAS below.

If a student has not met the conditions of their preferred choice university, the student would need to ascertain whether they had met the conditions of their insurance choice, if they have, they are legally tied to that offer.

If they haven’t met the conditions of their insurance choice, students need to be formally released from their first and insurance choice institutions, they will be aware that they have been released by receiving a clearing passport number which will appear in their TRACK profile.

If they have failed to meet the conditions of both their preferred and insurance choice places, they should start to search the clearing vacancies on ucas.com to find a university and course that they are interested in (they do not need to wait for their clearing passport to do this)

Once they have found a suitable university and course, they should then speak to the university concerned about their grades they achieved, to ascertain whether the university would accept their application.

If yes, to carefully consider whether this is the right course and university for them.

If yes, to verbally accept the offer of a place from the university.

Make their one and only Clearing application using their one single application choice available to them through TRACK.

The institution, once they receive the student’s application at their institution, will tie the verbal offer over the phone with the student’s application, and accept them.

Students should not use their only Clearing application choice to apply for a place without having spoken to the university concerned.

Once accepted and the acceptance has been processed through the system, the student will receive confirmation of the acceptance through TRACK.
