I sat an exam but there was no course grade at all on my certificate.

It is possible that you failed to achieve the course – please look at the letter you received with your certificate and the box at the bottom of the letter. If it says in the box the (subject) and under the Result Column ‘no award’ you have failed the exam. However, check under the National Units section of your certificate. If you passed any Units of the course these will be listed there.

It may also be that there are Unit results missing which prevent you from getting the full course award. Remember, to get a full course, you need to successfully complete all the Course Units and the examination.

Go to the certificate you have received and look under the ‘National Units’ heading. If the subject is showing eg X037 12 Drama:External Assessment then there are either Unit results missing or you have failed a Unit. Please go back to your school or college and discuss the matter there. Staff in the centre can get in touch with SQA if they need us to take action on your behalf.  Alternatively, your final unit(s) may not have been formally assessed until August. For candidates falling into this category we issue updated certificates in late August and mid September.
