How do 'credit points' work? What do they mean?

Credit points are based on the amount of time an ‘average’ learner would take to complete the qualification. As well as including the time spent learning in school/college it includes self-directed learning – i.e. study at home or the library.

The number of SCQF credit points show how much learning has to be done to achieve the qualification. One SCQF credit point represents a notional 10 hours of learning. For example, if a learner achieves a Higher Course (level 6) with 24 SCQF credits, they will have undertaken about 240 hours of learning.
