IVA in Criminal Investigation Skills (SCQF level 7) (G909 47)

The IVA in Criminal Investigation Skills is designed to enable candidates to develop the skills required to undertake a criminal investigation.  It will provide candidates with the skills necessary to preserve and examine a crime scene and to gather all available physical evidence.

It will examine investigative interviewing and the use of a structured interview model and the role it can play in an enquiry. It will also consider the management and use of intelligence in a criminal enquiry and as part of day-to-day operations. These are all techniques required by individuals involved in the investigation of crime. The award will provide a foundation for their future development in the area of criminal investigation.
