Brannock High School

Achieving excellence in learning through integrated school and community projects

Brannock High SchoolThe following is based on Brannock High School’s Action Research Project application for funding.

Brannock high school is a non-denominational, co-educational comprehensive school in Motherwell. The Brannock High Action Research Project project aims to:

  • foster the key capacities of Curriculum for Excellence through individual and group personal development projects
  • seek student accreditation in the four Units of Personal Development
  • encompass enterprise activities within the school's accredited personal development programme

Senior students following NQ Personal Development Courses will choose between two curricular groups: MAD (Making a Difference); and BEST (Brannock's Excellent Senior Team).

A wide variety of activities have been scheduled for the MAD group including: Brannock High School students.

Brannock High School students The BEST group will engage in activities associated with chambers of commerce, both local and national. The school has been identified as a pilot school to promote chamber business. Links will be made with local business partners to foster community and economic awareness. Specific projects will surround the development/modernisation of our school, in line with the locally changing socio-economic environment, as a consequence of the regeneration of Ravenscraig.

The BEST group will also act as a significant conduit in the promotion of pupil and parent councils.

Both MAD and BEST groups will assist in the variety of tasks associated with an end-of-year public performance. This is likely to be a theatrical/musical show, staged within the local community.
