Changing the Name of Access Qualifications

Access qualifications being developed to support Curriculum for Excellence will be called Nationals.

Launch of Building the Curriculum 5 - A Framework for Assessment

The Scottish Government has launched new guidance for teachers to help them implement assessment for Curriculum for Excellence.  The package of support includes events and best practice examples.  It provides an outline of the approaches to assessment to support the purposes of learning 3 to 18.

Launch of Curriculum for Excellence Parent Toolkit

A new parent toolkit has been launched to help teaching professionals communicate with parents about Curriculum for Excellence. The toolkit contains case studies, film clips, images and a bank of slides and provides practitioners with the tools they need to talk to parents with confidence.

On 10 June 2008, the Scottish Government launched a consultation on the next generation of National Qualifications in Scotland. The consultation was open for responses until 31 October 2008.

Curriculum for Excellence Management Board Announcement

Education Secretary Michael Russell has confirmed that there will be no delay to the roll out of Curriculum for Excellence in secondary schools this August.

Curriculum for Excellence launch

On 11 June 2009, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning announced changes to Scotland's National Qualifications which will come into effect from 2012/13. Revisions are being made to the current framework to reflect the values, purposes and principles of Curriculum for Excellence and the aspirations of Scotland in the 21st century.

We are delighted to announce the publication of a new Curriculum for Excellence Management Board Discussion paper- 'S1-S6 Progression 'A coherent learning experience' - progression from S1-S3 into the senior phase of Curriculum for Excellence: advice to senior managers in secondary schools.'

The partners delivering Curriculum for Excellence are developing a toolkit to help practitioners communicate with parents and carers around CfE.

In January, the toolkit will be launched by the Cabinet Secretary.

CfE Qualifications Development

As with any new qualification, we are ensuring that our partners and the teaching profession are fully involved in the qualifications design teams, working groups and review groups that will help develop the new qualifications and review the existing qualifications. Our updated webpages will explain our development model, engagement plans and the work of our review groups.

A ten point plan to drive forward the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence was unveiled by Education Secretary Michael Russell today.

Launch of Building the Curriculum 4: Skills for learning, life and work

The Scottish Government have published guidance to help all those who are involved in planning and delivering young people's learning across all sectors and settings. The guidance sets out skills for learning, life and work for Curriculum for Excellence and shows how they are embedded in the Experiences and Outcomes.
