The Scottish Government's Scottish Studies Working Group was convened in September 2011 by Dr Alasdair Allan, Minister for Learning and Skills. SQA is represented on the working group, which is exploring the prospect of developing an Award in Scottish Studies.

Education Secretary Michael Russell has confirmed that there will be no delay to the roll out of Curriculum for Excellence in secondary schools this August.

Curriculum for Excellence launch

On 11 June 2009, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning announced changes to Scotland's National Qualifications which will come into effect from 2012/13. Revisions are being made to the current framework to reflect the values, purposes and principles of Curriculum for Excellence and the aspirations of Scotland in the 21st century.
