
The Access 2 qualification in English focuses on the development of learners' language skills for communication, understanding and enjoyment. They will gain an understanding of how a mastery of English can inform them, help them express themselves and form ideas.
Candidates will develop their basic reading skills through studying and responding to short, simple texts. Similarly, they will produce short texts to improve their writing skills. They will also participate in group discussions to improve their listening and talking skills.
The SQA also offers an Access 2 qualification in English and Communication, which includes a focus on media, language for life, drama and speaking. Learners will gain an understanding of how to choose words and styles for particular audiences .
The Access 2 English Course is at SCQF level 3.
