Do I need to become an SQA approved centre?

Yes, Customised Awards are subject to SQA quality assurance and are required to be delivered through an SQA approved centre.

Who owns my Customised Award?

Customised Awards are developed and owned by our customers. They are privately owned qualifications and the owner has full control over who is allowed to deliver their qualification. Other companies and SQA approved centres can only deliver a Customised Award with the owner’s permission.

What appears on the Customised Award certificate?

The Customised Award commemorative certificate will feature the candidate details with your award title on high quality paper stock printed with the SQA crest and your company’s logo. The certificate will also feature your Chief Executive signature or named signatory. In addition to the Customised Award certificate, the candidate will receive their SQC (Scottish Qualification Certificate).

Do Customised Awards have specific design criteria?

Customised Awards allow the customer flexibility in the design, content and format of the qualification. However Customised Awards must be competence based and comprise of units with learning outcomes.

Can my Customised Award feature on the SCQF?

For an additional fee Customised Awards can be SCQF credit rated.

How long does the process take?

A straightforward development should take approximately 4 - 6 months from initial enquiry stage to achieving SQA centre & award approval.

Is there a charge for this service?

There is a charge as Customised Awards are privately owned and not publicly funded. The cost will vary dependant on the number and complexity of Customised Awards required.
