Earlier this year the National Occupational Standards in Commissioning, Procurement and contracting (CPC) were credit rated and levelled against the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework. These standards were developed in response to requests from the Care Sector for qualifications in this growing area of practice. They were seen as important in the context of policy developments such as self-directed support and personalisation.
SQA now wish to gather views on which of these CPC Units may be suitable for inclusion as optional units in awards for example, HNC Social Care and PDA Leadership and Management for Care Services.
Please can you take the time to complete the online survey.
SVQ Health & Social Care EV team - Agreed points from meeting
Following consultation with our Publishing department we have been advised the Learning and Teaching packs for the following units are now estimated to be available some time in June - August 2010.
Developing Leadership
Professional Development and Practice
Applied Sociology
Applied Psychology
The following is taken from Care Scotland’s Standardisation event workshops. The workshops examined, the expectations that centres have regarding evs, and what expectations the evs themselves have.
The points raised do not constitute official SQA policy, merely reflecting the attitudes and opinions of the Centres and evs who took part in the events.
As you are aware SQA commenced the review of the HNC Early Education & Childcare back in May 2009. At the meeting of the Qualification Design Team (QDT) on Monday 2 November, it was decided to postpone this review until September 2010, when the QDT will re-group. This will allow us to await the outcome of work that is being commissioned by the Scottish Government in relation to a skills functions analysis against current policies in Scotland; the Early Years and Early Intervention policies; Equally Well; and work that is progressing between the Scottish Social Services Council and NHS Education for Scotland, which will then inform this review, ensuring that the qualification remains fit for purpose in its revised form.
If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Care Scotland team.
The exemplar for Theoretical Approaches to Development and Learning (DF52 34) is now available on SQA's secure website. SQA Co-ordinators will have access to this.
As you may be aware, we have recently reviewed the HNC Health Care. Since this award was validated in August 2006, it has been recognised that some of the Units require to be updated to provide clarity on delivery and assessment. In response to feedback from the Qualifications Support Team (QST) a selection of the Units were reviewed.
As such, amendments resulted in changes within the Support Notes (guidance) section of the following Units:
The revision of the Unit F0KB 33 Physiology of the Reproductive System resulted in changes to the Statement of Standards (mandatory) section. To reflect these changes the level of the Unit specification has been increased to SCQF level 7 and the Unit has been allocated a new SQA code. The current Unit specification will remain for a short period within the framework to allow for future certification.
All candidates currently undertaking this Unit must complete and be resulted on SQA's system by 30 June 2010.
We recommend that all new candidates are assessed using the new Unit F84Y 34.
Guidance for practitioners to simultaneously evidence the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Mentor Outcomes and the SQA A1 Assessor Unit:
