Higher Biotechnology

The Higher Course in Biotechnology comprises three mandatory Units: Microbiology, Microbiological Techniques and Biotechnology. It further develops practical skills in the use of microbiological techniques acquired in Intermediate 2, and the understanding of the relevance of biotechnology to everday life.

Techniques involved include culturing and identifying micro-organisms.

The Higher Biotechnology Course is at SCQF level 6.

It is intended to provide an easy access point for information on assessment and it is envisaged that it will be particularly useful to faculty heads, newly qualified teachers (NQTs) and teachers presenting more than one Science. It is an additional resource to be used in conjunction with SQA Arrangements documents and National Assessment Bank materials (NABs).
