Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR)

SWQR is maintained in Glasgow, at the invitation of the Department for Transport. The SWQR holds details of qualified supervisors and operatives who have gained the appropriate qualification in relation to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA). 


 

Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA)

European Legislation states that those companies transporting dangerous goods throughout the UK and Europe must employ the services of a suitably qualified DGSA.  SQA provides the examination & certification of DGSAs on behalf of the Department for Transport/Driving Standards Agency.


Dangerous Goods Driver Training (DGDT)

European Legislation states that those companies transporting dangerous goods throughout the UK and Europe must employ drivers who possess an ADR Driver Training Certificate.  SQA approves and monitors the quality assurance of training centres throughout the UK and provides the examination and marking on behalf of the Department for Transport/Driving Standards Agency.


Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) - Certificate of Competency and Certificate of Equivalent Competency

The MCA is an Executive Agency in the Department for Transport and is responsible for the issue of Certificates of Competency for Deck Officers and Marine Engineer Officers in the Merchant Navy, Certificates of Competency for Deck Officers and Marine Engineer Officers for Fishing Vessels, Certificates of Competency for Yacht Engineer Officers and Certificates of Equivalent Competency for UK Merchant Ships and Fishing Vessels.  SQA administer the written examinations for Certificates of Competency and the written and English oral Certificates of Equivalent Competency on behalf of the MCA.  All examinations are prepared and moderated by people involved in the industry and/or training, and approved by the MCA.
