
The Intermediate 1 qualification Home Economics: Fashion and Textile Technology covers practical fabric skills. Learners will gain knowledge of textile properties and characteristics. The course encourages imagination and creativity in the preparation and making of textile products.
The Intermediate 1 qualification Home Economics: Health and Food Technology offers learners a chance to link their knowledge of food with the sensory and physical needs of individuals. It provides awareness of how constraints such as time, effort, skill level and available resources affect practical work. Learners are encouraged to be creative in preparing and producing food and in evaluating finished products.
The Intermediate 1 qualification Home Economics: Lifestyle and Consumer Technology covers healthy eating and food preparation skills. The course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the requirements for parenting and child development. The course also offers learners opportunities to develop and use specialist textile craft skills.
The Intermediate 1 Home Economics Courses are at SCQF level 4.
