
The Standard Grade qualification in History gives learners the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the variety of factors which have helped to shape their world. Learners will gain skills in considering and evaluating change and continuity, and in detecting bias, propaganda and prejudice.
Three important characteristics of historical methodology lie at the heart of the course: evidence; debate; and imaginative understanding. The course encourages learners to develop empathy with people living in other periods.
