Flight Disruption - Exams Advice

We are monitoring the current flight disruption situation closely.

Advice for Candidates

If you think you will be unable to return to take an exam as a result of the flying restrictions caused by the volcanic eruption on Iceland, please inform your school/college as soon as possible.

SQA has procedures in place to cater for candidates who can’t take their exams or whose performance in exams is affected by external events. We will ensure that candidates will not be disadvantaged and that their work will be assessed and qualifications awarded in line with recognised frameworks. Each case will be treated on its individual merits.

Advice for Schools and Colleges

SQA already has procedures in place to cater for candidates who can’t take their exams (absentee consideration) or whose performance in exams is affected by external events (appeals). We will ensure that candidates will not be disadvantaged and that their work will assessed and qualifications awarded in line with recognised frameworks with each case being treated on its individual merits.

The above procedures would come into play if a candidate is unable to return to take exams due to the flying restrictions caused by the volcanic eruption on Iceland.
