Highers and Advanced Highers in Chinese

Launched of first-National Courses in Chinese languages

This year we have launched our first-ever National Courses in Chinese languages — Mandarin and Cantonese — at Higher and Advanced Higher levels, with first certification due in August 2010.

This follows the successful launch of similar National Courses at Access 3, Intermediate 1 and 2, in May 2008.

The Higher and Advanced Higher are significant additions to our modern languages portfolio, and reflect the increasing interest in China and its growing impact on life in the western world.

The launch also marked the publication of new support materials for National Courses in Chinese at Intermediate 1 and 2, which have been developed in partnership between SQA and Hanban, the Council of Chinese Language International.
