Product Design Exhibition at Glasgow School of Art

Pupils and students from across Scotland enjoyed a visit to the Glasgow School of Art to view the Product Design Exhibition in February.

The exhibition organised by SQA in partnership with the Glasgow School of Art showcased some of the exceptional Design Assignments submitted for the 2009 Intermediate 2 Product Design Course.

As part of the Course assessment, we issue a different Design Assignment task each year. In 2009, the centenary year for the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Building, the candidates were asked to design street furniture for the area surrounding the iconic Glasgow School of Art building. The exhibition showcased the best work of 10 pupils from across Scotland.

Dr Janet Brown, our Chief Executive, said 'The creativity of our young designers is amazing. I'd like to congratulate them and thank their families and teachers for their dedication and support. There really could be nowhere else to display their work but the Glasgow School of Art, and I'm delighted at the enthusiastic support we have received from the School and its staff.'

Professor Seona Reid, Director of the Glasgow School of Art, said 'We are delighted to work with SQA and host the Product Design — First Steps exhibition. The students' approaches to the brief have been thoughtful, detailed and ambitious. They have clearly considered function, form and material, and brought a spirit of invention to their ideas.'
