Assessment involves making decisions about the level of knowledge and skills learners have achieved in a subject. It provides learners with the opportunity to show what they know and what they are able to do in relation to stated assessment standards.
We use many types of assessment, including exams, projects, case studies, role plays, and oral interviews. You can find a comprehensive list of assessment types and when to use them in our Guide to Assessment.
It is our responsibility to maintain assessment standards in partnership with centres. You can find further information about qualification and assessment standards on our Scottish Standard web pages.
We record learners’ achievements or ‘results’ on a Scottish Qualifications Certificate (SQC).
