The Scottish Qualifications Certificate

All candidates receive the Scottish Qualifications Certificate (SQC) on successful completion of their qualifications.

The SQC:

  • is cumulative and life long
  • provides a comprehensive list of all achievements including Group Awards, National Courses/Clusters, and Units
  • contains a Core Skills profile for the candidate
  • contains an SCQF profile for the candidate, detailing the number of points the candidate has built up at each level
  • is accompanied by a commemorative certificate to candidates achieving Group Awards (SGA, SVQ, HNC, HND, or PDA)
  • contains security features designed to make it impossible to copy or fake

Our Data Management and Certification Unit will send you update letters and Certification Timetables so that you know when Certification and Awards Reporting will take place. For example:

  • National Courses are certificated during the first half of August and at the same time we send centres Statements of Certificated Results
  • we issue SQCs on a weekly basis for SVQs and HN Certificates/Diplomas and we send centres Statements of Certificated Results in October

Speak to your CAM if you want more details about our Certification procedures.

Statements of Certificated Results

You will receive Statements of Certificated Results from us. These list the results for all candidates in your centre.

The timing will depend on the qualifications your candidates have achieved.

For example, for National Courses, Statements of Certificated Results are sent to centres in early August, and in December following the appeals process.
