The HND Professional Stage Dance will equip you with the knowledge and skills required for professional stage dance performers to succeed in a number of areas within the modern performance industry.
The HND will develop your choreographic, communication, interpersonal, presentation skills and professional attitudes which will enhance your employment prospects. It is also designed to develop and advance your dance performance, supported by singing and acting and a thorough working knowledge of the processes involved in preparing for production and by the ability to integrate superior performance skills in production.
The HND will also develop your self-evaluation, interpersonal and analytical skills and other soft skills.
The award will equip you with the skills to gain employment in a variety of areas. Having studied these Group Awards you will gain the knowledge and skills enabling you to pursue a career in dance areas such as: commercial dance, cabaret, musicals, and music videos.
On completion you should be able to progress to a suitable degree course. You should consult with your centre about the requirements of whichever course you choose to progress to.
As with all SQA qualifications, entry is at the discretion of the centre. Examples of formal entry qualifications include:
Formal academic achievements will not be enough for entry. You may be asked to undergo an appraisal, which would normally include a formal audition, in which you will participate in a one hour ballet class, one hour jazz class, perform a prepared song and an interview.
If you have suitable work experience, you may be accepted for entry provided the centre believes you are likely to benefit from the course.
