HNC Human Resource Management candidate information
The HNC Human Resource Management will prepare you for employment in human resource management and develop your knowledge and understanding of the roles, responsibilities and processes involved in managing human resources. This includes introduction to HRM; employment law; introduction to Continuing Professional Development (CPD); recruitment, selection and induction processes; interviewing; and HRM in the business context. You will also develop your planning, analysis, synthesis, study and research skills.
Employment and progression opportunities
On completion of the qualification, you should be able to apply for positions such as Human Resource Officer and, with further study and experience, you will be equipped to move on to Human Resources Adviser and Manager roles.
The HNC has been designed to help support you to progress eg into degree level. You should check the requirements with your centre.
As with all SQA qualifications, entry is at the discretion of the centre. Examples of formal entry qualifications include:
- Any relevant Scottish Group Award at SCQF level 5 (Intermediate 2) or SCQF level 6 (Higher)
- Any two relevant National Courses at SCQF level 6 (Higher) together with three at SCQF level 5 (ie Standard Grades at level 3) or above
- An SVQ in a relevant area at SCQF level 5 or 6
However, if you have no qualifications but do have suitable experience and skills, you may be accepted if you are likely to benefit from undertaking this HNC.
