Record retention policy for SQA centres delivering HN and Vocational qualifications
Scope:
This policy applies to SQA approved centres offering Higher National and Vocational Qualifications.
Purpose:
- To ensure that sufficient assessment and verification records are retained to allow for the review of assessment over time.
- To maintain national standards and minimise any risk of wrongful certification claims.
Policy
Centres will retain records of candidate assessment for one calendar year following completion of the qualification. These records will show:
- a list of candidates registered with SQA for each qualification offered in the centre
- details of candidate assessment, including the name of the assessor, location, date and outcome
- internal verification activity
- certificates claimed
These records must be made available to the External Verifier and SQA on request. Records must be stored securely and in a retrievable format.
This policy will come into effect from 1 August 2011.
