Who does this qualification suit
The SVQ 2 in Team Leading at SCQF level 5 is aimed at managers in their first management role with a tightly defined area of responsibility.
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. As this is a work-based qualification, candidates must be in posts which will enable them to provide the required evidence.
Candidates would be expected to have a limited area of control and a tightly defined area of responsibility.
Candidates could progress to higher level SVQs in Management or to HNC/Diploma/PDA Management qualifications
Centres with devolved authority are eligible to seek approval through their own internal approval process.
Centres without devolved authority will have to come forward for approval and should contact the Business Development Team for guidance in completing the combined CA1/SA1 form.
Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements as outlined in the guide to approval.
How to assess
Assessment is through performance in the workplace and simulation is not allowed. Evidence may be classified into three categories: work produced by the candidate as part of his/her job as a manager; work produced by others relating to the work that the candidate does as a manager; and statements produced by others about what the candidate has done.
This evidence may be gathered by observed performance, products of work, witness testimony and personal statement, and presented as a portfolio of candidate work.
