Big-hearted SQA staff have raised almost £5,000 for an Edinburgh children’s charity.
Over the past year, members of the Dalkeith Informal Committee have raised thousands of pounds for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, which supports the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
Each year, SQA staff nominate a local charity to work with and support through a host of fund-raising activities including quiz nights, fun runs, bake sales, raffles, competitions and a sponsored sky dive.
Collecting the cheque for £4824.70 from members of the SQA Dalkeith Informal committee were representatives the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, Will Guest, Corporate and Events Fundraiser and foundation board member, Stephanie Donaldson.
A similar scheme supporting local charities is operated by our Glasgow Informal Committee.
Dr Janet Brown, SQA Chief Executive, said: “The Sick Kids Friends’ Foundation is a fantastic charity that helps young people and their families through difficult and challenging times.
“I’d like to extend my very warm thanks to everyone who has given their time, energy, expertise and money to support this charity and help them continue to support young people and their families.”
On receiving the cheque, Will Guest said: “On behalf of us all at the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, I'd like to thank everyone at SQA for their generous contributions to our fundraising.”
