Important information for 2011-12
Some changes have been made to the Assessment Support Packs based on experience and feedback from the first two years of the Baccalaureates from practitioners and verifiers. These changes are to support candidates and assessors in producing evidence and it is important to note that there has been no change to the requirements of the Interdisciplinary Project. We hope will be helpful and give greater direction to you and your candidates in undertaking the Interdisciplinary Project from session 2011-12.
These changes include improving guidance on group projects and making the Assessor Report (see below) a mandatory piece to be submitted to SQA for verification along with the five pieces of candidate evidence.
The main changes are in Section 10 - Templates for candidates and assessors and are summarised below:
· changes to language, format and style for consistency within each template and across both Science and Languages
· each of the five stages now contains a space for "Assessor feedback to candidate" so that assessor comments throughout the evidence is directed at the candidate.
· Criteria Checklists, Assessor Comments and final grading form have now been combined into an "Assessor Report" section. Assessor Comments at this stage can be used to clarify why a particular criteria was/was not met.
· the format and language used in the prompts for the self-evaluation stage has been simplified to make this section less onerous for candidates
The revised ASPs and the Word versions of Section 10 can be found on the Baccalaureate web pages. Here you will also find new Candidate Guides which we hope you will pass on to your candidates. These guides are aimed at both prospective candidates who want to find out more about what is involved in the IP and also as a reference for candidates as they work through each stage of their project.
