NC Beauty Care and Make-up, NC Beauty Care, NC Make-up Artistry

These NCs allow cost effective delivery for centres. They are designed to be completed in one academic year when delivered on a full-time basis. The majority of the programmes are practical based and should be delivered in a realistic environment.

Learning is at a pace and level that is beneficial to the individual candidate and each of the NCs opens up the possibility of continued study.

Candidates have the opportunity to sample Units from different pathways. The Skills for Work in Beauty at SCQF level 6 is embedded in the NC Beauty Care at SCQF level 6.

The NCs are mapped to the National Occupational Standards and are nationally recognised awards.

The NCs have been designed to meet the needs of the following groups:

• school leavers
• progression candidates
• adults returning to education
• individuals who wish to start a new career

Successful candidates will be in a better position for a career in the sector.

Access

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, it would be an advantage to hold the NPA in Cosmetology at SCQF level 4. A genuine interest in beauty care and make-up is desirable.

Centres with devolved authority are eligible to seek approval through their own internal approval process.

Centres without devolved authority will have to come forward for approval and should contact the Business Development Team for guidance in completing the combined CA1/SA1 form.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA’s general requirements for technical/occupational competence.

Assessment Support Packs (ASPs) are available for selected Units and can be found on SQA’s secure website.
