PDA Healthcare Professionals: Facilitating Learning, Training and Assessment in the Workplace

The Professional Development Award (PDA) in Healthcare Professionals: Facilitating Learning, Training and Assessment in the Workplace at SCQF level 8 uses a variety of approaches to develop knowledge and skills in planning and promoting learning, assessing learners, and giving feedback. It also develops skills for personal effectiveness. This PDA is designed for registered healthcare professionals who are supporting the learning of others in a healthcare environment.

Two units which form this PDA are also contained within the new Dental Nursing HND, which will help learners as they develop their career.

This qualification is available through colleges and training providers.

Who does this qualification suit

The PDA is suitable for a wide range of occupational groups where learning, training and assessment feature in the practitioner’s work role. The qualification has been designed to recognise the role of the Healtcare Professional in the training and assessment of the health care team (eg, trainee dental nurses, oral health science, hygienist therapy students and Allied Health Professional (AHP) support workers. ).

Access

Access is at the discretion of the centre.

Approval

Centres with devolved authority are eligible to seek approval through their own internal approval process.

Centres without devolved authority will have to come forward for approval and should contact the Business Development Team for guidance in completing the combined CA1/SA1 form.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements as outlined in the guide to approval.

How to assess

Ongoing course assessment will apply. Each individual Unit specification gives detailed information on the Evidence Requirements and approaches to assessment for each Unit.
