Langside College offers an HNC in Social Care delivered in partnership with the Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care (SIRCC) and other organisations.
This qualification covers practical and theoretical work, and equips learners with the knowledge and skills they need for work in residential child care settings.
The teaching team at Langside College has designed an SVQ that includes getting realistic insights from young people who have experience of this form of care.
SIRCC got together a group of young people who live in care and who, working with the teaching team, devised lesson plans for the students. They have provided an invaluable overview of the realities of working and living in residential child care.
Everyone involved has benefited from this innovative partnership, and the results have improved the learning experience.
