The first accreditation of an awarding body’s qualification will be processed during its approval as an awarding body. Once an awarding body has been approved it may submit further qualifications for accreditation. Many of the documents submitted for approval as an awarding body will remain relevant to individual qualification submissions and reference will be made to these documents where necessary.
For information on approval of new Awarding Bodies, see the page: Becoming an Awarding Body.
Following a review of our processes we introduced a streamlined approach to accreditation. This included reducing the number of forms. The basis of all submissions, including new accreditations, reaccreditations, amendments and withdrawals, is the AC2 form. If you have made a submission for accreditation using the old forms, please discard any blank forms you may have saved and bookmark this page. Any amendments to the form will be reflected in the version you can download below. If you download a new form each time you will know you have the latest version. The form and guidance on how to complete it are available here:
When preparing a submission it is good practice to speak to the Accreditation Manager for the sector for advice and to inform us that the submission will be made. If the new qualification is designed to replace an existing qualification the submission should be made in time to allow processing according to our customer service timelines. The timetable for submissions and meetings can be found here: AC and ACG Meetings.
A list of Accreditation Managers and their sector allocations can be downloaded here: AM Sector Allocations
When ready, submissions should be e-mailed to: accredquals@sqa.org.uk
