Question Paper Validator

A Question Paper Validator (QPV) is responsible for carrying out a final independent check to ensure the course assessment is of the correct standard and fit for purpose. This work must be undertaken independently within the conditions, timescales and arrangements set by SQA, maintaining the security of the assessment materials at all times.

These activities will be under the direction of staff from SQA’s Qualifications Development directorate. There will be a requirement to undertake duties in your own time.

Outline of duties

  1. Verify that the question paper is of the correct standard and is appropriately accessible to candidates at the correct level.
  2. Complete the question paper as a candidate, providing written responses to each question and, using professional judgement, confirm that the question paper can be completed within the allocated time.
  3. Complete and submit feedback using the checklist provided and provide suggestions for amendments to the question paper as necessary, in accordance with SQA timescales.
  4. Maintain the security of the question paper at all times.
