Why deliver this qualification

The Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) at level 2 will encourage candidates to develop and apply the knowledge skills and understanding needed to progress into employment, training or further/higher eduation. It will provide candidates with a broad understanding and knowledge about the care sector as well as the attributes related to the sector.

The Diploma has flexible delivery methods to encourage candidates to learn through experience by applying knowledge and skills to tasks, including those that have the characterisitcs of real work. The learning will be supported by work experience.

Who does this qualification suit

The target audience for the Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) at level 2 is suitable for individuals who are employed or are seeking employment in the care services in a variety of settings.

Access

Entry to the qualification is at the discretion of the centre.

Progression

Candidates can progress from the Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) at level 2 to the Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) level 3 and other higher level qualifiations within the care sector.

The progression route for each candidate will depend on their job role and level of responsibility.

Approval

Centres will have to come forward for approval and should contact the Business Development Team for guidance in completing the combined CA1/SA1 form.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements as outlined in the guide to approval.

Structure

Candidates must complete 46 credits drawn from mandatory Units and optional Units. On completion, the candidate will have achieved a minimum of 319 guided learning hours.
