(L-R) John McMorris (Director of Business Development, SQA), Sandra Furby (Director of Learning and Development, Tribal), Barry Brooks (Group Strategy Director, Tribal), Janet Brown (Chief Executive, SQA), Brian Keegan (Business Development Manager, Tribal), Al Coates (Managing Director, Tribal - York)

SQA and Tribal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, bringing together an extremely experienced international awarding organisation and one of the country’s leading providers of applied technology and professional support services to the learning and skills sector.

Both organisations work extensively across the UK with further education colleges, training providers and employers.

Janet Brown, Chief Executive of SQA said:

“We are working in partnership with Tribal to offer a high-quality, end-to-end service to the learning and skills sector in the UK and, where appropriate, internationally.

We will collaborate on customised qualifications and/or learning, teaching and assessment support materials for a variety of markets. Our partnership will benefit both Tribal and SQA customers across the UK."

Within Scotland particularly, customers will benefit from a partnership focus on Essential Skills. This includes screening tools and contextualised online resources in core skills and employability as well as an appropriate range of ‘softer’ skills.

Customers in England will benefit from a seamless journey through Functional Skills.

Barry Brooks, Tribal’s Group Strategy Director, said:

"I am confident that our collaboration will bring increased innovation and quality to the learning and skills sector especially for the students.

Our agreement with SQA gives customers the benefit of Tribal’s e-learning and paper-based resources, assessment and skills checking and technological tools. SQA will support with summative assessment and with certification."
