SQA and the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) have signed an extension to their successful partnership agreement for qualifications tailored for the waste industry.
The partnership extends the agreement between SQA and WAMITAB who jointly award waste management qualifications. These qualifications are widely held by industry leaders as key to individuals’ successful progression within the sector.
WAMITAB has over 20 years of experience developing and delivering waste and resource management qualifications to the industry. This, together with SQA’s expertise in verification quality assurance as an awarding body, will ensure those already working towards the joint qualifications will be fully trained and competent in the waste industry.
Steve Borley, SQA Head of Marketing, said: "SQA are delighted to extend our agreement with WAMITAB. We succeed when we help our customers to succeed and in the waste management industry the best way we can do this is to partner with WAMITAB. Together we will give the waste management industry access to the skills their workforce requires. This in turn will support jobs, safety and growth in this important sector."
Chris James, WAMITAB Chief Executive, said: "WAMITAB and SQA have always worked well to offer the waste industry workforce in Scotland a blend of quality assured industry expertise and knowledge. In meeting the ambition of Zero Waste Scotland, both SQA and WAMITAB are fully committed to work with the Scottish Government to ensure the skills platform is comprehensive and complimentary to the success of this initiative.”
