Power Generation and Renewable Energy
Scottish Government is committed to generating 20% of total Scottish energy use from renewable resources such as solar, wind, wave and tidal by the year 2020.
Scotland has a wealth of natural resources to meet this target, but there is one resource that we will need above all if we are to achieve it. A trained and highly skilled workforce.
With shortages in most engineering disciplines, both for highly qualified engineers and experienced technicians, there is an increasing reliance on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM skills). SQA provides a variety of qualifications in these keys areas covering the STEM subjects.
All of our qualifications recognise learner achievement, demonstrate competence to work in the sector, and have been developed in close association with the industry.
